About the Schuetzen Rifle Event
Schuetzen is the sport of offhand rifle target shooting using antique or replica single-shot rifles.
While competitors typically use Ballard, Sharps, Remington rolling-block, or Winchester high- or low-wall rifles — or modern-made replicas of these designs — modern rifles such as the Ruger No. 1 and Mossberg SSi are also allowed.
Matches are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month, from May through September, from 3pm to close, on the west-half of the 100 yard range. Matches are open to both OGC members and members of the public.
The sanctioning body for Schuetzen matches is The American Single-Shot Rifle Association (ASSRA).
